[W126 Coupe] Poor acceleration

Unless your friend has something else under his hood than the 2.0L 
four-banger, I'd say there is somthing wrong with your car.

Even the stangulated 238 HP the 560 M117 engine puts out should put you well 
ahead of the Golf.

Have you checked you throttle linkeage? You fuel distributor? Your kick-down 
switch?

Have a look under the hood or your friend's Golf as well. He migh have an 
R32 in disguise and there is no way you'll catch him in one of those.
