[W126 Coupe] Starting, electrical problem

i just had this happen on another car and i replaced the starter and cleaned the battery posts and cables.   works great

The more I look at this, the more the bushings seem to 'look good'. If the bushing are worn, the shifter may (or may not) be able to position the linkage properly so as to engage the switch EVERY time. A guesstimate on my part..

      Hello Everyone, Please help with a following problem: Intermitant inability to start my '89 560SEC. When I turn the key to "start" position, the lights, radio etc go on, but the starter does not respond. I return they key to "off" position, move the gearshift lever out of "P"several times than park it back at "P", turn the ignition key to "start" and the starter responds. It happened once 6 month ago, now four times in one week. I own genuine 126 Mercedes Benz manuals  set, which I bought with my '85 380SEC (Given to charity in '01). I cann't find any information on electrical switches (If any) that are connected to the gearshift lever, or any diagrams that can help me find a solution to this problem. Please help.
