[W126 Coupe] Death of an SEC !

My father had his beautifully detailed 91 SEC out with his friend for a nice drive. Unfortunately he pulled out from a stop sign and didn't see a Ford Explorer bearing down on him from the drivers side at about 40 mph. It hit his just in front of the drivers side hinge post. The balance of the car is still in perfect condition. He walked away from the incident with just bumos and bruises. A true testament to the soundness of our vehicles. The insurance company stopped counting at $16K. Needless to say, the vehicle is totaled.

I am buying the vehicle back not so much to put it back on the road as that would not be prudent given the structural damage, but to part the car out in a way to get maximum use of the car. If I let it go to a junk yard it would be butchered and I couldn't live with that.

Anyway, the car had 118K on it and the engine and transmission where running perfectly. All maintenance on the engine was performed including all new a/c works and timing chain at about 109K.
