[W126 Coupe] Climate Control Problems 1983 380SEC

Hi Greg:

First, if your dealer is having to recharge the system after just 1.5
days and says there is no leak - that makes no sense. Either he's
recharging or he's not. If he's recharging he should be using a dye and
then looking for the leak where the dye will appear after the 1.5 days
you suggest. If the compressor is shutting off prematurely, then what
is your coolant temp when this happens?

As for the ACC dial, where you describe it functions to full cold or
full hot only, that suggests the mono-valve is sticking. Just buy the
rebuild kit for the monovalve which is something in the area of $25US
and takes about 15 minutes on the 380SEC 1983 where there is less to
move out of the way on the early year 126.

As for the blower working then quitting is this in the AUTO mode or in
the high speed fan mode? If it's in the AUTO mode it could well be the
ACC, just try switching to LOW fan the next time it does that and report
back if the fan worked or not after making the switch to LOW.

Take care,

Dick
