[W126 Coupe] Best Tires for a 1988 560 SEC

Markus,

With the realization that everybody has to put up with 90 days of bad
weather, I wouldn't suggest moving to LV at this time. It was 112 yesterday,
only going to get to 108 today (but it's a dry heat!). That said, I'll take
90 days of excessive heat to any amount of snow!! Been there, done that!!

You coming in October to StarFest? There will be better weather then!! Very
unlikely I'll have FrankenBenz running by then, but it will be something to
look at.

Agreed, in the dry and "warm" weather they are fine. But in April when it
was still in the 40's out, not quite so, although now I also realize the
fact the accumulators were shot may have added to that (since I got quite a
bit of overall tire spin quite easily). But the first time I hit some
drizzle in August last year and went to make a turn and the car almost spun
around, I was less than happy! I think the answer is I need to move...ha ha!

And to add some more confusion, I have the18 Kuhmos and love them, but I
live in Las Vegas where it doesnt rain anddoesnt get cold (which is why I
live there). The Kuhmos have areasonably soft sidewall, important with 18
rims, and stick quite well(on dry pavement). Theyre round and quiet.

Michelins are generally great, renownedfor round tires, and last well.

Ron,

That's a tough one. What is your most important criteria, what kind of rims
do you have, any suspension mods? Where do you live, what kind of driver are
you? I had Continentals (don't remember which ones) when I bought the car,
stock wheels/setup and hated them - drove like an old lady car and
fishtailed at the slightest dampness on the road. After lowering the car and
getting 18 inch wheels, I switched to Dunlop sport 9000's and loved them,
any weather (except snow I hear - but wouldn't know this from experience),
but they are only meant to last 20-30K miles. I since switched to Kuhmo's on
several members recommendations and hate them. They don't do well in the
cold, or the rain either for that matter, and won't get them again. I know
others that love Michelins, but they tend to be pricey (if cost matters).

Hello,

Just looking for feedback on what everyone considers the best highway tires
for a 1988 560 SEC.
