[W126 Coupe] Hood not latching!

Hi Habib:

Brake parts cleaner will work. Comes out high pressure so set the 
latches up in a tub raised up off the tub floor with a screen or a few 
pieces of wood or hang them from a wire. This way you don't end up 
wearing the cleaner and the crud falls free of the latches into the 
bottom of the tub. I just use whatever I've got lying around. I'd guess 
any type of wheel bearing or chassis grease will work.

If you suspect the cable, check in the driver's fender for the cable 
adjustment to see if you can just reduce the cable length a bit to get 
it working once again. If the release has been really hard to pull, the 
catch clean-up may help in addition to the cable adjustment.
