Kivendren,
Your tire clearance to the fender will depend on a number of things.
Among them:
- Lowering springs, if you are running lowering springs your ride heigth
will be from 1.4"-2.0" lower than on standard springs.
- Tires. If you are running tires that have a diameter very different from
stock (64.8 cm), your clearance will differ.
- Suspension bushings. There are a number of different thickness rubber
bushings available and they can adjust the ride heigth by up to an inch.
- SLS system. I don't think you have one on your 380, but if you do ride
heigth can vary depending on the condition of your system.
- Condition of other suspension components. Tired and worn springs,
bushings, etc., also affect ride height (as well as ride quality, comfort,
tracking, camber, etc.).
No road control could be a combination of bad alignment (our cars need
4-wheel alignment, not just the front wheels), underinflated tires, worn
tires, bad shocks, tired springs, worn suspension components, etc.
Wide tires do considerably more tramlining (i.e. following every line and
rut in the pavement) than standard width tires and the steering is also
less communicative and has much less "feeling".
Hope this helps.
