Chet Hwilka set me up with instructions on access to the 126 sedan with
air bag on the passenger side which should be similar for the SEC. As I
recall you need to pop the plastic trim in the coin tray and remove the
screws, then there is one hefty bolt that runs up through the knee
bolster horizontal steel ventilation tube that must be removed in order
to drop the knee bolster and upper foot well panel. You'll need a
socket wrench and extension to get at that one bolt. You'll also need
to pull the side carpet panel on the A pillar, foot well carpet and
firewall plastic panel and then the knee bolster.
Should be something like 5 self tapping screws to remove the fan blower
cabin cover with blower resistor and rubber seal. Disconnect the fan
power leads. Remove the blower screws. Lower the blower and set the
new one in place. The big difficulty is the posture you must assume
when working up under the dash so I guess you could add either removal
of passenger seat or send it all the way back so you can buy some wiggle
room.
If you are in there Dan, mine as well check your fresh air door vacuum
elements and the little motor that pulls air from the courtesy light
cabin vent to sample temp for the climate control because you don't want
to do this job more than once.
Good luck, Dick
