[W126 Coupe] Front Left Noise

If you have to do this job, let me know. It is time consuming and I had to make a special wrench when the nut stopper broke off and spun inside. It is more tedious than difficult. I did not push the old bushing out, I cut the top off with a 4 1/2" zip cut and drilled the bushing out. I then used a dremel and cut a relief break in the metal part of the holds bushing and pried the rest out. Cleaned everything up, painted the inside and pushed the new bushing in. I did the drivers side motor mount the same day.

A heavy rattling noise, possibly a couple of loose clunks when hitting largish bumps? More predominant on one side or the other but can be felt in the steering wheel?

Most likely you need what Iain Gunn pictured. Strut Rod Bushing Kit 126 330 11 35.

Check the strut from the steering assembly running towards the rear and connects through the "frame". The Yankee passenger (or right) side bushing mounts by the downward exhaust pipe. If the bushing is shot, likely the rubber boot is cracked and falling apart also... and is easily visible. If in doubt raise the car and check for looseness in the strut rod at the bushing.

It's easy to locate, but not quite as easy to change. The bushing kits are about $90 each.

    Hi SEC Heads!

I need a little input please.
My 1989 560 SEC is making a loose noise in the front left when hitting a decent size pot hole.
It almost sounds like one of my shocks has a loose bushing but it is a brand new shock or something has worn or wearing out.
I feel it in the steering wheel too. My wife tells me that I have a problem as she can't hear it (but that's a woman with no car knowledge) but I do.
I recently changed the wheel bearings, all of the tie rods & ends, the center link and the center shock.
It doesn't happen on a normal smooth road or small bumps.
    Where should I look?

    Thanks
    Jack
