[W126 Coupe] What is this part?

Let me make sure I know where they go. They go on that metal thing that's a similar shape on the rear corner? I.e. it mates with that post that hooks onto the back of the hood? I guess I will be having the shop do them. I hope they still make them since the driver's one is missing.
Cars going to be more than perfect...hopefully. Our own Jonathan is running some numbers for me...if the price doesn't get too high, it should not only look like new, but also be faster than your average 380...or average 560...or w126 with m119 5liter (though IIRC it won't outdo Satish's current rig, since I think he's got a 600 engine in there).

Actually, it protects that aluminum lip on the hood where it contacts
the chassis/fender pin and should allow the hood to close as it should
without raising the contour 6 inches as you mentioned. I was very
careful removing and re-installing those two clips when painting the new
hood on the 86 300SE after my oldest son used the car for dear hunting
last fall. I would think it prevents the metal from fatigue and
preserves the paint on the chassis/fender posts and the lip on the
hood. Where you are talking about a full restoral of your sedan,
perhaps the body shop can put those in for you to make the car perfect.

Any idea what it could be? It's plastic, painted body color on one side, and does not appear that it could be load bearing. http://Davidson.smugmug.com/gallery/1697437/1/8345092
