[W126 Coupe] Re-Chroming

Hello,
 
I will be getting my 1988 560 SEC repainted this summer. One question: Has  
anyone found a good way to have the chromed parts on the bumpers and around  
lights rebuilt before sending the parts to be chromed? The chrome parts seems to 
 have been destroyed from the underside of the part (galvanic?). I would like 
to  offer some suggestions to the paint shop.
