Rick,
It sounds like your 3rd brake light is working OK, but you might as well
check the bulb while you are at it to make sure it is seated properly and
does not ave any corrosion on the contact points.
LED "bulbs" that will fit in a normal socket are available, but they don't
draw enough current to signal to the system that there is a working bulb
present and your "Bulb Out" warning light will come on.
