[W126 Coupe] Transmission Adjustments?

Bob, if the fluid hasn't been changed recently do that as it can make a big
difference to the shift quality.

Next is to check all the vaccuum hoses for the trans as again a vaccuum leak
makes the shifting hard.

Once all that's done there is a modulator on the side of the trans that can
be adjusted to firm or soften the shifts - if you have flaring on up shifts
and hard downshifts then you can't adjust it with the modulator as this
makes everything harder or softer.

Flaring usually means the bands are worn and over time the modulator gets
adjusted to firm the shifts to stop the flaring which then gives harder
downshifts.

You don't say how many miles you have but between 100-150 it's nearly trans
rebuild time.

Matt.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] Transmission Adjustments?

Can anyone help? I have '83 SEC and the shifting is not right. when it
shifts into anyone gear if "revs" a little then goes into the next gear.
when coming to a stop and it down shifts it is kinds of "Hard". At higher
speeds it's not as noticeable. Can the tranny be adjusted by me or a
garage. Are there adjustments on the tranny to correct this? Thanks,
Bob Rodgers
