Steve(s),
Marvelous question that is on my list of things yet to figure out. You don't
think a Hurst Shifter sticking up a foot or two into the SEC cabin makes a
statement?? I could do a skull head on the shift lever with illuminated red
LEDs for eyes. Anybody have any fuzzy dice they'd send me?
My plastic LS1 is supposed to show up next week but I haven't pulled the SEC
motor/tranny out yet (4-sale, don't ya know). Once the old comes out, I will
use the plastic engine and, hopefully, an empty 4L60E or 4L65E transmission
housing bolted to it to figure out motor and transmission mounts, exhaust
headers, plus preliminary gear shift mechanisms. My goal is when you sit in
the SEC, it has nothing to indicate the changes - gear shifter, instrument
panel, ignition switch, cruise control, etc. all look Mercedes. The first
indication that I want of a change is when you start the engine and wake up
the beast, the second is when you do ANYTHING with the accelerator pedal!
Do we have enough math majors here to approximate a 0-60 time on a normal
weight SEC with around 400 RWHP? F=MA, but I don't remember the units nor
applicability to the real world. Nathan - I don't want to hear any comments
about "LS6 to SEC" and "connections to the real world" about the installer!
Y'all take care,
Mike R.

A question that popped into my head this morning: how does the GM
tranny interface with the gear selector? Can the stock MB shifter be
adapted so that from inside the cabin, it still looks totally stock,
or do you have to replace parts of the console to adapt a GM/
aftermarket shift?
