[W126 Coupe] STEERING GEAR BOX

Hi Bruce:

I guess you are asking about the steering gear box because all other 
components on the front-end are tight and the adjustment on the box 
itself still has you with a lot of play in the wheel.   I replaced the 
steering gear box on one of the sedans at 260k miles.  Picked one up at 
the junk yard having the lines snipped and crimped to seal it until my 
mechanic was ready to do the transplant.  No alignment was needed 
afterward.  Total job which included used ps box, new MB ps fluid and 
filter was $350.  So, if you can find a donor car with low miles that is 
the route I would go.  I've read a few postings on rebuilding the unit 
while mounted to the car that sounded like they dealt with a leak vs. 
extreme play.  Mike Ramay did the seals in dealing with a leak.
