Hi Gary:

If the wires have 100k miles or more on them it's a safe bet that they 
should be replaced along with the distributor cap, rotor and O.E.M. only 
spark plugs.  If you want to do a DIY test of the wires you can wait 
until it is dark, start the engine and warm it up, lift the hood and 
take a spray bottle filled with water and spray lots of water on the 
wires.  If you see a 'light show' in the form of sparks jumping from the 
wires to other wires or engine parts, the wires need replacing.
