Hello membership.

It surprises me that it should be necessary to mark the driveshaft on any Mercedes model. Mind you even so called Mercedes "experts" don't seem to know this and of course I don't know whether it's the same on all Mercedes models. The last time I had to deal with a driveshaft was after one of those so called experts in a aftermarket shop overhauled the transmission in my old W123 Turbo Diesel. I was charged an extra 2.5 hrs worth of labour for ballancing the driveshaft. I climbed under the car to see how it was done. What I found was a series of hose clamps, the screw part serving as weights.
On further examination and after reading my shop manual, I learned that each half of the driveshaft have an arrow cast or stamped into the yoke pointing to the opponent on the other half like this:
                                                    --> <- -
 It can't be any simpler than that and it would surprise me a great deal if Mercedes-Benz would have discontinued this practice. Not to mention the dissapointment in my case since I might have to drop my driveshaft because I feel some vibration in that area under power at around 110 -120 km/hr and suspect missalingment of the driveshaft.
