Hi Jeff:

Where it's an 85, are you sure it needs to be emissions tested here in
MA. After all it's 20+ years old? If they insist on the emissions
test, I'd make sure your o2 is fairly new, add a can of Emissions +
(WalMart), run a tank of Premium fuel only. Get the engine warmed up
with a highway run for 20 minutes or so, then go directly to the MA
garage leaving the engine running until they are done. You may also
need to lean the lambda if you feel it's running rich. You can always
set it back to original spec afterward.

Dial next to headlamp is the vacuum adjust for the euro headlamps. If
it's not been used in a while the adjusters in the headlamps may be
stiff or frozen or you could have a vacuum leak at the switch or in
either of the hoses feeding the left/right headlamps.

Headliner info is in the MBCoupes archives. best to pull the pan and
then clean up the old foam and try re-applying the fabric with 3M Super
90 adhesive.

Rear speakers on the 85 are either a flat grill or the raised dome. If
it's the raised dome, I find it easy to pull the speaker enclosure
towards you in the rear seat to release the front nylon plug nearest the
seat back and the 3 rear plastic clips and one side clip nearest the
rear glass. Then lift it off. The flat grill is just a few screws.

Where in MA? Anywhere near Quincy? I can set you up with a shop that
does all my emissions testing if that helps.

Regards, Dick
