Just a thought guys on the metal strip. Could it be that the heat
escalation in the sun is sufficient enough to expand the metal in that
"fuse" and cause it to open or separate the circuit? Ask someone to
help you with a little test. Turn on the ignition switch and jump it
with a pair of alligator clips and a length of wire just to see if it
kicks on or use a hairpin and rubber handled pliers to hold it to
complete the circuit for a split second just to confirm? It might point
you in the right direction and.I don't think merely making the
connection for a split second will have any negative result or damage
any circuits. Good luck.
