[W126 Coupe] Paradise by the dashboard light?

Make sure your rheostat is turned up. Black knob on left turn clockwise to brighten. If this really does nothing and your lights are still too dim on dash as well as all accessory lights then I would suggest replacing the rheostat with a new one.  
The rheostat controls cluster lights as well as all interior accessory lighting, IE radio,climate control, window buttons ect for brightness.

  My dash board lights in 420/1986 are far too dim. Mechanic says brighter ones will cause burning problems. Has anyone had this trouble?
