[W126 Coupe] Another AC Problem

Tom,

I would say if you had too much oil it may be an intermittent problem, thus
in the long run will kill the compressor. Typically this would be heard at
start up and may not be present there after. Then when it sits again and the
oil drains back down, starting it again you may hear the noise after a long
period of not being used.
I think in what you are describing sounds like a bad compressor or when
you replaced the pulley on the compressor its not adjusted right and that is
what is rubbing.
You could remove the belts and check free spin to see if you can hear
anything coming from the pulley, but sure sound like bad compressor bearings
to me.
That would be my guess based off what you stated.

Jason
