Hi John:

As Malcolm suggests you can order replacement aluminum gears (vs. the original nylon) from George Murphy and then just follow the instructions on repair found in the MBCoupes website.  Should take all of 2 hours to do the project.  While you are in there you may as well get your hands on a can of MB slide paste (used for the sliding roof rails and linkage) and lube the arm linkage and the rear window lift.  The slide paste is available from Jonathan or Rusty for a few dollars.

One last thought, if your exterior rubber sill seal is worn or cracked you could do this project at the same time.  The seal on the side rear window is somewhat expensive because it wraps around the pillar and includes the interior seal as well.  It's all one piece.  Was $70 or so when I did mine a few years back.
