No transmission after 1995 models will bolt up to a Mercedes M116/M117.
They are all electronically-controlled, have lock-up torque converters,
electronic valve bodies, etc.

No V12 transmissions will bolt up to M116/M117 cars regardless of model year.

The best trans for the V8s in a 4-speed is the 722.370 from a 1992-1994
500E/E500 or 500SEL/S500.

Also, unless you have considerably increased the power of your M117, the
722.350 transmission used from 1989+ is totally fine. No one will realize
any difference otherwise.
