[W126 Coupe] wheels

Hello Clay:

At a minimum, I would not by wheels requiring spacers on the front hubs for your 83. The H&R spacers will NOT fit the front spindle properly unless you remove the hub centric lip which is a safety feature. Latter model year SEC's do not have this problem as the spindle design meets the H&R specifications. Spacers in the rear are okay but I would not exceed 20mm. The wheel bolts must be a precise length in the rear as to meet the number of threads for safe attachment but, not be so long as to protrude through the back of the rear hub and impact the emergency brake system.

You will be much happier if you get the correct wheel offset up front. I can say this having been there and done that. Now running 18 inch Lorrinser RSK-2's with the correct factory offset I sold the former 18's with D93 rim style and spacers.

Regards,

Dick
