[W126 Coupe] BATTERIES: OPTIMA VS. MERCEDES

Are you using the top brace that is supposed to hold the battery down?
The only battery I could find tall enough was the Douglas battery
labeled with a BMW sticker. In the car we have an interstate right now,
but we had to shim some wood in there for the top brace to actually do
anything for the battery.

The 540i (E39 chassis) will fully accept a group 49 battery with no
problem. We have a 540i 6-speed and have installed several group 49
batteries into E39 chassis 540s all day long.
