Even if you go from 81 to 79 it's better than nothing. In NC in any zone
(including the fairly common 70mph zones where 81 is only 11 over) that
takes you from a mandatory 30 day suspension to a fine only (that's
right, no points just by dropping those 2mph assuming this was a 70
zone).

I've never gotten a ticket btw. Got stopped once, not for speeding but
for display of speed or something like that (peeled out). Yelled at me,
cursed at me, told me he'd see me in court, then ran my license and
asked me if I had learned my lesson, then decided to give me an
unwritten warning. For that, I listened to him and haven't done "shit
like that" in his town since (if he had given me a ticket I'd probably
do it more).

Well, assuming you are doing 80 MPH you are traveling at a rate of 117
fps.
Based on your 200 foot window to react that leaves you with just 1.7~
seconds to get your speed down to what 75?, 70?, 65??? while driving a
4000+
lbs Mercedes Benz.   I'd say the whole idea is a futile effort to try
and
fix what you simply can not fix.  If you speed as most all of us do and
you
are in the wrong place at the wrong time you get a ticket.  I'll grant
you
that young drivers are more prone to receiving a ticket than a reprimand
or
warning.
