Having done this job a number of times (mostly on coupes) I've found the
trap is indeed necessary. As far as removing the old adhesive goes, I use an
industrial squirt bottle filled w/ lacquer thinner (and a splash of acetone
for a little extra kick). That along w/ some plastic puddy knives and the
job isn't bad. I start by spraying all the adhesive down then work about a
foot square section at a time as the LT flashes off rather quickly.
Thus far using 3M Super 90 (double coat) hasn't let me down.
