..... but I figure doing the seals a time or
two more when needed is way cheaper than paying somone
to do the guides....
The guides may not only be worn between the valve stem and guide, but a few
may also be loose in the head. The guides are pressed into the head and are
not suppose to move. If they start wiggling around in the head, the longer
the problem goes on the bigger the valve guide hole in the head will get.
They sell oversized guides for this reason. If the hole gets too big you
won't be able to get a guide big enough which may mean a new head if the
machine shop can't fix it..
Also the looser the valves are in the guides the faster the new seals will
wear out..
