Just a quick note to say I am now all set with the hood replacement on the white 300se euro that took a hit from a 800 lb 4 point buck at 45 mph (this is new info from local PD). I have both the old hood and the donor car hood stripped down and ready to swap. I have a body guy to do the bead blasting and priming. Jonathan Hodgman recommended the media blasting and taking it all the way down, so here goes! Jonathan is rousting up the misc. parts and the driver's euro headlamp assembly. Only engine bay damage was the plastic aux fan grill rubbing the fan hub (easily fixed), the pressure sensor on the receiver/dryer snapped, and the metal upper beam above the driver's lamp bay was depressed about an inch or so. Hood releases look just fine and I found out where they tuck the 2-tone horns on the euro (just under the driver's lamp bucket) which added a few minutes to the headlamp removal effort.
Some part of the dear wrapped up against the passenger windshield side trim so this is being replaced along with the aluminum reveal that les up against the glass. Windshield is 6 weeks new so luckily it did not suffer so much as a scratch.
Regards,
Dick
