Because " 10 square inches " ambient air could not be worth than " 30 square inches of any air! " You cannot exhaust more than you take in! Forget taking off your cats and kidney beans in that case. The cool air you refer to still comes in thru the intakes, just put a bug screen on them.

Restricting tues? You mean the intake tubs that get cold air instead of hot engine bay air into the air intake? Why in the world would you take those off?

My pristine '91 560SEC snapped a camshaft for the second time in less than a month. Right before the last cylinder in the drivers side #8 as before. The owner/mechanic and I have speculated why? Perhaps because I took off the restricting tubes to the air filter and it got too much air, probably not, some people supercharge their car! There is no question that it is covered by warranty with less than 1000 since the new cam but..... The loaner he gave me is intriguing! It is a 1992 300CE and what a red cutie. Somehow I do not think this minimal bumpered thing was made for the American market, can anyone help with the VIN. It is WBDEA51D7NB652805.
Thanks in Advance and Best Wishes,
John
