I've been thinking about that too as I'm going to be repainting my 126.
I'd live to see some pics without the mouldings.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] How much reserve? and other thoughts

Hi guys,

I was just wondering as I was driving down the freeway the other day bathed
in the orange glow from my low fuel light, "Just how far can I go before I
run completely dry and coast to a stop?"

Actually, while I've got your attention, I've also been thinking about
removing the lower door mouldings, because the driver's door moulding has a
broken clip and it rattles whenever I close the door. I figure those body
mouldings must weigh 40+ pounds as well. Has anyone removed theirs? How does
it look? Am I being a Philistine for even suggesting it?

Yours truly,
