We had a 2005 SLK55 in my shop for service (no charge maintenance has been discontinued by Mercedes).  It is FAST!  Interior is much improved as well.

  IMHO the last of the real Porsches was the 1996 Turbo S. Last of the air cooled engines, twin turbos developing around 400 HP if I remember correctly. On the other hand, has anyone seen or driven the new SLK AMG version? Not sure if they're out yet but could be an interesting ride if you want the latest technology.
