Richard:

By running new wires to the dash and the rear deck you can leave the old
wiring harness in place should you choose to swap the receiver out when you
sell the car. On the cars I drive I have always run 14/2 oxygen free
cables. When running to the rear just route through the floor raceways up
through the rear seat channel and through the wiring grommet behind the rear
seat back. If you are running amps in the trunk pull the power cable (hot)
on the side of the car opposite the speaker and CD controls cable to avoid
interference. I use a simple electrician's snake with a loop and the end
taped closed to feed the dash and door speaker locations.

Now, on my wife's car the 300SE Euro, someone had installed an aftermarket
Blauplunkt receiver and married up the original wiring harness that feeds
the Becker amplifier and fader. I did have a distorted sound quality issue
and found that the receiver fader and balance positions must be neutral and
that the original Becker fader works perfectly when set-up this way. If you
muck with the receiver fade or balance controls the distortion renders the
system junk.
