First off, the shop that's responsible for the overtightening was
actually a dedicated MB/BMW place... must have gotten a bad mechanic or
something.

Anyhow, went to a place called wheelworks in San Francisco and, low and
behold, with the right sized wrench (in this case honkin' big!) we were
able to get the bolt off, no damage! After getting tire replaced, I had
an alignment done by the same shop ($99... ) but they also informed me
that my front shocks were leaking and needed replacement (that shop does
not do shocks though). I wonder what the urgency on that is?

On a sidenote, my transmission is also acting up, reluctant to shift
from 2nd to 3rd gear (now happens at around 4k rpm instead of the
sub-3k).....

These cars are an endless moneypit, aren't they...
