Hey all,

As you may or may not remember I was, at one point (desperately, you might say) trying to sell my '85 500SEC.
For whatever reason, older MBs just do not sell well in this area (East Tennessee). Although I advertised it several times in various newspapers and auto trader magazines (and on this site, as well) as low as $2000 at last attempt, I could count the number of inquiries on both hands, and not one person even saw the car or drove it. Some of my personal crisises have abated to some degree, and I've about decided to keep the car. However, I need to do quite a bit of work to the car to get it the way I want it, and to rectify the ravages of time and exposure to the weather (it sat outside about three years before I bought it). I have been considering a later, more powerful engine like the M119 Satish installed in his car. I was wondering what the market would be like for the drivetrain (engine, tranny and rear diff). Anyone have an idea of what these componets should sell for? I would like to get them out of the way first, as I'm cramped for room (three cars in the garage, two i!
n the driveway), and I would make anyone on the list a good deal on the whole works. The car has approximately 195-200,000 miles on it, I can do a compression test and a leakdown test for any prospective buyer, tranny shifts good, but will need a front seal, is starting to leak, and the diff is in excellent condition.

                    Thanks in advance,
                         Chris
