Then you know about torque sticks. As I'm sure you do it - I take off the
rims with an air gun (Mac Tools, 450 ft/lb CCW) but use a blue torque stick
(80 ft/lbs) to put all my rims back on the car with the air gun as it is
quicker and easier than anything else. THEN I get out the torque wrench to
finish the job. The air gun/torque stick seem to do around 70 - 75 ft/lbs
since the torque wrench set at 82 ft/lbs always turns the bolt a little
before it clicks.

I've used air tools my entire career as a technician, and I've also used
torque wrenches for exactly the same length of time. Air tools are great
time savers when tearing down a car, or reassembling. But I was taught at a
very young age by people who knew what they were doing, that they are NEVER
to be used for final tightening, that was what torque wrenches were for. I
own three Snap-on torque wrenches, a 3/8" drive graduated in inch pounds, a
3/8" that covers 15-100 ft./lbs., and a 1/2" drive to handle 50-300 ft./lbs.
That way I've got all the bases covered.
Later,
Chris
