[W126 Coupe] trunk mounted CD

I'm reading with amusement the attempt the efforts people are putting into
their sound systems. Decades ago I worked in the audio industry and spent
many hours in the recording studio. After years of thinking how I wanted
the all perfect media room (and I have the friend who can create it as he
designed some of the screening rooms at Sony and Fox Pictures), I came to
realize how absurd it is. Who has the time to sit in the sweet spot of the
room and do nothing else? As for cars, there is no such thing as a sweet
spot. And unless you have the skills of a Ken Pohlman (AES Fellow and
designer of some of the sound systems for automobile manufacturers) you
won't come close to achieving it. On top of this you are trying to put it
into a noisy environment whose dB level is probably never under 35dB. So
why bother?
Maybe we should all concentrate on driving.

- Ambient noise level (wind, engine, AC, tires, other traffic, etc.)
Can be significantly decreased with improved sound dampening.
- 12 volt DC electrical system (not enough power)
Separate Amps in the trunk or footwells.
- Impossible to phase control speakers (separate positioning and angles of
tweeters, midrange and woofer drivers)
Why not? Mine are.
- Acousitcal environment (angled surfaces, seats, headrests, mix of hard and
soft surfaces)
Tough, but possible to minimize with careful planning and experimentation.
- Constraines space (no "air" for sound propagation)
yup, that's a problem for sure, but you can always lower all the windows in
the SEC, and set the different soundstages for open air versus closed.
