[W126 Coupe] trunk mounted CD

Richard,

I could not agree more.

I don't care what kind of vehicle you drive, the car listening environment
is horrid.

Let us see:
- Ambient noise level (wind, engine, AC, tires, other traffic, etc.)
- 12 volt DC electrical system (not enough power)
- Impossible to phase control speakers (separate positioning and angles of
tweeters, midrange and woofer drivers)
- Acousitcal environment (angled surfaces, seats, headrests, mix of hard and
soft surfaces)
- Constraines space (no "air" for sound propagation)

Try and put a classical symphony in your CD player; at the same position on
the volume knob you can't hear the quiet parts, but a full orchestra
crescendo will pop the doors and windows.

Music that is less dynamic (or talk radio..) is less of a problem, but you
still lose most of the detail.

I think you can get a better music experience from a $1,000 HTIB (home
theater in-a-box) than a $5,000 car system.

Just my opinion.

Regards,
Axel J. Wulff
