I thought the compressor plays a part in defrost mode in the sense it takes the humidity out of the air? Of course the cars from years ago with no a/c worked with just head and defrost so it you don't care about that you should be okay.

<DIV>I have an '87 190E which I only drive in the winter and the AC doesn't
work. Since I don't need the AC anyway I want to remove the compressor to free
up the weight, as well as a few ponies. My summer car is an '87 560 SEL with the
same issue, I'm thinking of doing the same work to this car as well since I
Never use the AC, even when it worked. I just wanted to be absolutely sure the
compressor plays no role in the heating before I make a mistake..</DIV>
<DIV>Thanks,</DIV>
