[W126 Coupe] AC Compressor, heating

Mike,
I have an '87 190E which I only drive in the winter and the AC doesn't work. Since I don't need the AC anyway I want to remove the compressor to free up the weight, as well as a few ponies. My summer car is an '87 560 SEL with the same issue, I'm thinking of doing the same work to this car as well since I Never use the AC, even when it worked. I just wanted to be absolutely sure the compressor plays no role in the heating before I make a mistake..
