[W126 Coupe] braking and front of car noise

Hi David:

Check the brake support rods that go from the lower control arm rearward to
the chassis into what looks like an open can near the footwell on each side
of the car. Mike Ramay did these a while back. A big project in my humble
opinion but, they are the first suspension parts to check based on your
description.

By the way how are the engine mounts on the 85? Ever been done? When you
look at the fan shroud clips, are they down an inch or more where they meet?
That noise could also be the engine mounts bottoming out.

Why not have the car, with you present, checked for suspension wear and the
mounts checked visually as well. Should take all of 5-10 minutes and a good
mechanic would typically not charge for an inspection and let you know what
if anything needs repair.

Dick
