Markus:

Check the fuse. If good, I'd suspect a break in the vacuum circuit which runs from pump to trunk lid, trunk lid to gas cap, (both readily accessible from the trunk), gas cap to passenger door, passenger door to driver's door.

The two occasions I have troubleshooted vacuum door locks on the 126 resulted in discovery of a break in the line at either of the two door hinge points where they pass through the chassis to door rubber grommet. A great tool to check each line segment is the Mighty Vac. Others have reported lock diaphragm failures in the doors. I've not seen this yet.

If you do have a leak, it can cause the pump to run for long periods, eventually killing the pump.

Good luck.

Dick
