You do move the sludge around. Around and out. You ought to see some of
the filters I have seen after a flush, yuck.

Interesting.well back in the day Pat Goss did suggest oil additives
(something he is vehemently against nowadays) so I guess he makes his
share of mistakes. Basically his argument was that all you end up doing
is moving a bunch of sludge around, exposing leaks and exposing the
engine to the caked on stuff that would have otherwise not been a
factor.

Rusty, why do you suppose that other guy recommends against it if it
hasn't been done in over 30K miles? Are you disagreeing with that part?
