Here is the transmission update for those with any kind of interest in the 
saga.

I had the trans removed by MB shop.  Thye confirmed to the rebuilder of the 
supplied trans that there was no indication of wrong assembly.  I suspect 
the pump died an early death.

New trans was shipped from vendor.

Installed and running better than the first one.  Only have about 35 miles 
on this one as of today.  The other lasted 50 miles.

I will be sending the first rebuild back to the vendor for an autopsy and 
expected payment for R&R labor.

I will report what I learn.

Now that the car is running again, I have discovered some very interesting 
traits that I will be posing to the group.  Fun stuff.
