Ken,
Why don't you just get a new drain plug for the pan and use any means
possible short of a torch to remove the old plug? Vise Grips are great for
this type work if the nut is already screwed up.

  Got a manual pump to remove oil from the engine via the dipstick tube on
the weekend.  Came from the local boat shop at AU$29.  Effective but slow.
I managed to get 6.6 litres out before the pump sucked only air.  My guess
is that about a litre of the old oil remained.  Put in new oil so it's not
quite a full change.  I'll have to be satisfied with that for the present.

  Learned two things.  2  Put the rear wheels higher than the front to move
all oil to front of motor.  2.  Pump out with the oil as hot as you can
handle.
