The MB FGS module (002 545 4132) has a speedo feed and is programmed to
engage first gear at 7mph. First gear cannot be engaged at a higher speed
than 7mph (unless already in first and kickdown applied, i.e. full throttle
standing start).
All that module is doing is applying a +12V feed and is doing so at 7mph and
less. It is not a 1st gear module at any speed above 7mph - i.e. it is not
trigerring the 3 1st gear valves in the valve body. All it is doing is
sending +12v to 'kickdown' into 1st if and ONLY IF speed < 7mph.
With a momentary switch it will just kickdown one gear - again, the switch
is just sending a 12v signal. Same as kickdown - it will go from 3rd to 2nd,
not 3rd to 1st.
