I don't know about a 38, but I have been in a '37 MB
500K that belonged to Laurl and Hardy (one of them). 
That had mother of pearl dash, and all the accents
inside that looked like chrome were sterling silver. 
Car was a beaut.  This was about 10-12 years ago, and
it was going for $1.3M
