YES, IT IS POSSIBLE TO OVERFILL THE SYSTEM WITH TOO MUCH OIL. IT WILL FIRST
NOT COOL WELL AND THEN IT WILL SUDDENLY "HYDRO-LOCK" THE COMPRESSOR AND
LIKELY DESTROY THE COMPRESSOR - AND YOU WILL HEAR THE COMPRESSOR CLUTCH
SCREAM BLOODY MURDER AND SMOKE LIKE HELL.
OIL IS PICKED UP BY THE FREON AND CARRIED THROUGH THE SYSTEM AS PART OF THE
LIQUID AND VAPOR AND TRAVELS AS A SMALL VAPOROUS PARTICLES. OIL SHOULD NOT
AND CANNOT BE "PUMPING THROUGH THE SYSTEM.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] How much oil in the AC?
Is there a way to measure the amount of oil in the AC system? Is it
possible to overfill the system with oil? Does the vacuum pump remove it
all, along with the refrigerant and water vapor?
Thanks,
Tom
