[W126 Coupe] 2 ?s

Because every single person I know who used platinums in any of the
engines used in a W126 had premature fouling of the plugs. If you look
through the mbcoupes archives you'll see a lot of posts saying how these
engines and platinums do not go well together.

I replaced my stock plugs with Iridium's in my SEL Question: why are you
against platinums.

I would use Benz antifreeze because it's cheap insurance against
a costly repair. Also, do not take out the plug below the radiator all
the way, just take it out enough to drain. Unless you have a helper to
wiggle around the radiator at the top, it's a real PITA to get back in
once it's totally out. Plugs require no special tools, just a spark plug
socket (and a torque wrench to torque down the replacements), but I
think you'd be wise to get one of the spark plug sockets with a rubber
insert that holds onto the sparkplug, otherwise you'll be contorting
your hand in all sorts of ways. I really like the ones with a pivot
joint that came with the tool kit that came with the car. Just to make
sure, you're using stock plugs and not platinums, right?
