[W126 Coupe] dash cover

Hello all.
 
What is the consensus of the group regarding a “glued-on” plastic dash
cover vs. the time and trouble to remove the dash and have it recovered?
I seem to remember that the dash is incredibly time-consuming to remove.
I had my dash repaired with the plastic gunk that is matched and applied
by hand, then heated.  It looked ok but now I have several other long
cracks that developed while the car was sitting in my garage this
winter.  I’ve gotta do something about them soon.
